Mad Men: The Best Show On TV

This Sunday season two of Mad Men begins. If you're unaware get aware. You should be watching Mad Men. The first season is out on DVD right now so get on it. Of course this post would have been more effective a month ago when the DVD box set was released. Newcomers you have half a week to watch thirteen 45min. episodes! If you can't manage I'm sure the internet will help (download season two when you're ready).

Mad Men is a glimpse of American life in the early '60s, a time on the edge of the cookie cutter lifestyle of the '50s yet approaching the brink of the love and peace revolution. This is a series that dwells in the subjects of sexism, racism and capitalism. It even dips its toes in the then taboo subject of homosexuality. All of this is done with precise and bold discretion. It's more of a movie than a show, which is something expected from the writer and producer of The Sopranos.

Its stars the Ad Men of New York's Madison Avenue. Don Draper, creative director of Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency, is the male lead with a mysterious past. He has the physique of superman and boasts an ideal charisma. Just as important is Peggy Olsen the new girl and a secretary, of course. She shows us the female's perspective of the time period. Peggy may seem naive but she has the potential to intimidate the manly men of the office, such as young junior account manager Peter Campbell. Characters are abound, from luscious secretary head Joan Holloway to Sterling Cooper partner Roger Sterling to housewife Betty.

Mad Men does little wrong and most everything right. It's the best show on Television, and way ahead of my previous TV darling Nip/Tuck. It's a series everyone should be paying attention to. And I'd rather stop here in fear of spoiling more for those who haven't seen it yet.

Just watch it.

Willson, that site you linked to has an air of spam to it and doesn't look very safe. Heck, you're probably working for them.

If you'd like to pirate a TV show you can search for it yourself. I won't provide links.

That said, I still want to promote safety online. The best route is probably BitTorrent. If you know what you're doing. The easiest is surf the channel dot com. Also, the show can be streamed for free on CTV.ca as long as you're in Canada.
